In a statement released Wednesday morning, the company says recent changes in the Canadian vacation tour market combined with the airline’s debt level have rendered the company unable to maintain profitable operations.
One employee at Skyservice headquarters near the airport tells NewsTalk 1010 that she’s shocked, adding that she thought the company was going through tough times, but not this tough.
Tour operators have been left scrambling to make alternate plans for customers that are either due to fly out in the near future or already in their destination.
“For Canadians currently travelling abroad, the Government of Canada has an emergency consular service telephone line (1-800-387-3124).
“Consumers who have paid for Skyservice tickets should contact the Canadian Transportation Agency at 1-888-222-2592 or visit its website for further information.”
