Booster eligibility expands across Ontario

Starting today, Ontarians aged 18 and above can arrange a COVID-19 vaccination booster through the provincial portal if it has been at least three months since their last dose. In order to strengthen protection against the Omicron version of COVID-19, eligibility was increased. On Friday, pharmacies began offering the boosters, but Ontarians can now schedule appointments on the province’s or a local public health unit’s websites.

In recent months, Ontario’s ability to give vaccines has been drastically reduced as demand for first and second doses has decreased, and many cities have closed some of their mass vaccination clinics. The province is attempting to re-establish capacity as rapidly as possible. With the holidays approaching, we must all work together to keep ICUs from becoming overburdened.
