The Greater Toronto Area (widely abbreviated as the GTA) is the most populous metropolitan area in Canada. The Greater Toronto Area is the 6th largest metropolitan area in North America, and as an economic area, the GTA consists of the City of Toronto and four regional municipalities. If it was a country, the GTA’s GDP would rank approximately 20th in the world. The GTA is projected to have 7.7 million residents by 2025.

Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow said she’s “speechless” about the continued delayed of the Eglinton Crosstown, saying she’s no more knowledgeable on the project than residents and business owners who’ve been waiting years for it to wrap up.

“I don’t know what to say anymore, it’s leaving me speechless,” said Chow.
