Barrie’s downtown hit again by fire

Firefighters continue to battle a blaze this morning that razed a section of the city’s downtown, the second major fire in less than six months. Dozens of residents in apartments over stores along Dunlop Street scrambled to safety after an apparent explosion rocked the complex shortly before 11 p.m.

The Eglinton Crosstown and Mayor Olivia Chow

Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow said she’s “speechless” about the continued delayed of the Eglinton Crosstown, saying she’s no more knowledgeable on the project than residents and business owners who’ve been waiting years for it to wrap up.

“I don’t know what to say anymore, it’s leaving me speechless,”  said Chow.
