In a significant labour dispute, approximately 3,700 Metro Inc. workers represented by Unifor Local 414 have initiated a strike, leading to the closure of 27 grocery store locations across the Greater Toronto Area, including areas such as Toronto, Scarborough, North York, Brampton, Milton, Mississauga, and Orangeville. The ongoing strike has caused disruptions for Metro Ontario Inc., but other Metro stores in York Region outside of Newmarket remain unaffected.
