Toronto police are seeking the public’s help in locating Michelle Yu, an 18-year-old who has been missing since Tuesday.
Police say she was last seen at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the TD Bank at 354 Bay St., near Temperance Street. Her image was captured on the bank’s security camera and she appeared to be alone. Members of her family say this is not the bank branch Michelle regularly uses.
She was also seen at around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in the York Mills Road/Chipstead Road area.
Missing teen Michelle Yu located in B.C.
Missing North York teen Michelle Yu has reached out to her family, saying she is safe, police tell CityNews.
Yu, 18, was last seen Tuesday afternoon at York Mills and Chipstead roads, east of Bayview Avenue.
“Michelle Yu contacted her dad today, via cell phone. She had advised him that she was okay and that she would call back later. She’s located in B.C. at this point, in Vancouver. She’s still considered missing, because the police haven’t confirmed that she’s actually at an address,” said Sgt. Andy McCall
Sgt. McCall added that Vancouver police will be following up to ensure Yu is safe and is where she says she is.
This is very irresponsible behaviour to have caused an entire city / country anxiety over a spoilt teenager’s actions.
Hopefully we will get all of the details and some clarity on this situation. It is definitely unfortunate, but we don’t want a “cry wolf” situation and then something really bad happens.
I wonder how many enemies she has made in one week as a result of her poor actions and pathetic apology. Even though she’ll be entering university shortly and hoping for a fresh new start, everyone including her university professors and colleagues will regard her as the irresponsible teenager who cost the entire country thousands of dollar spent on trying to look for her. She owes the public an explanation!
I do not envy her at all.
