Do the Ontario Liberals want an election?

by thegtapatriot@yahoo.ca | Apr 11, 2012 | Economy, News, Ontario, Politics

An interesting game of poker is taking place in Ontario and it seems that the Liberals may have the best hand. Who has the most to lose? At the moment it’s the NDP. No one wants an election and I suspect that if one is called you can kiss all of those NDP seats...

Toronto police stop and document black and brown people

by thegtapatriot@yahoo.ca | Mar 16, 2012 | Immigration, Multiculturalism, Ontario, Politics, Racism, Students, Toronto

An interesting article from the Toronto Star. It would be interesting to know how widespread this is. It’s unfortunate to commonly hear the line “well if you have nothing to hide, why does it matter”. It matters because you have the rights, however...

Running out of cards to play. What will Mayor Rob Ford do?

by thegtapatriot@yahoo.ca | Mar 16, 2012 | News, Politics, Public Transit, Toronto, TTC

Seems that Rob Ford is stuck “between a rock and a hard place”. With the provincial government planning major cuts where does Mayor Ford get support for subways from? Today the recommendation will be for a LRT option, on Sheppard Avenue; putting the nail...

The Afghan Story — Nothing good will come of this

by thegtapatriot@yahoo.ca | Mar 12, 2012 | Afghanistan, Politics, USA, War

16 people were left dead after an American soldier went on a house-to-house on a shooting rampage in two villages. We already were on shaking ground in Afghanistan, however I believe that this may cause an earthquake. It’s unfortunate because in Western...

LRT or Subways? This has been the ongoing debate, unfortunately the lines between truth are certainly grey. Let’s start with the Eglinton Cross-town, which definitely the current hot potato. Rob Ford has continued to use the word “subways”, which...

TORONTO – Second World War pilot Philip Gray says it is “immoral” that Downsview Park is evicting the Canadian Air and Space Museum. “This is a terrible way to repay young 21-year-old boys who went to war and never turned 22. I am disgusted that their heritage...

The Eglinton Crosstown and Mayor Olivia Chow

Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow said she’s “speechless” about the continued delayed of the Eglinton Crosstown, saying she’s no more knowledgeable on the project than residents and business owners who’ve been waiting years for it to wrap up.

“I don’t know what to say anymore, it’s leaving me speechless,”  said Chow.
