delete your Facebook account

Deleting your Facebook account can be a difficult decision, but when you’re ready, it’s a fairly simple process that requires careful planning. Here’s how you can prepare and delete your Facebook account effectively.

Preparing to Delete Your Facebook Account

Before you say goodbye to Facebook, make sure to follow these essential steps:

  • Backup Your Data
    • Download all your photos, videos, and posts.
    • Save important conversations and memories.
    • Export your Facebook information through your account settings.
  • Clean Up Your Digital Footprint
    • Delete posts, photos, and albums individually.
    • Remove tags from other people’s posts.
    • Disconnect Facebook from third-party apps and websites.

Step-by-Step Deletion Process

Here’s how to permanently delete your Facebook account:

  1. Open the Facebook app or website.
  2. Navigate to Settings & Privacy.
  3. Select Accounts Center.
  4. Choose Personal Details.
  5. Click on Account Ownership and Control.
  6. Select Deactivation or Deletion.
  7. Choose Delete Account.
  8. Enter your password and confirm.

Important Deletion Considerations

  • 30-Day Grace Period: You have 30 days to cancel your deletion request.
  • Permanent Loss: After deletion, your account will be completely inaccessible, and all profile content, photos, and posts will be permanently removed.
  • Messenger: You will lose access to Facebook Messenger.
  • Third-Party Logins: Any third-party logins using Facebook will be disabled.

Pro Tip: If you’re unsure about deleting your account, consider temporarily deactivating it to test how you feel about being offline.

The Eglinton Crosstown and Mayor Olivia Chow

Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow said she’s “speechless” about the continued delayed of the Eglinton Crosstown, saying she’s no more knowledgeable on the project than residents and business owners who’ve been waiting years for it to wrap up.

“I don’t know what to say anymore, it’s leaving me speechless,”  said Chow.
